CONTEXT
In Honor’s caregiving app, we lacked a clear way to show caregivers their weekly pay information. Caregivers and Ops had to log into a separate app and rely on snail mail invoices for each payroll. We wanted to enhance transparency and help caregivers understand their earnings better.
Before
After
PROBLEM
Caregivers and our ops team lacked visibility into their pay details, making it challenging for them to comprehend how their work impacted their earnings. This led to confusion and missed opportunities to encourage positive behaviors for caregivers.
SOLUTION
We introduced weekly earnings and hours on caregiver profiles, simplified categories, created easy-to-understand visual representations, communicated updates with notifications, and surfaced additional earning opportunities and coaching. We also provided admins with a view to easily see a caregiver's earnings to provide support and give coaching.
COACHING ON WAYS TO EARN
We aimed to provide Care Pros with clear insights into their earnings and which categories were earning them more. Our goal was to facilitate coaching, encourage them to earn more through extra hours and referrals and make these additional avenues beneficial for them.
SIMPLIFYING OPS WORKFLOW
Previously our ops team used 3 different tools (admin, paylocity, and excel) to look up caregiver pay and provide support and coaching to caregivers. We simplified the process by giving them a single tool within the admin dashboard for caregiver pay.
OUTCOME
When we launched our pilot 1600 Care Pro's received the pay summary feature. 62% of Care Pro's viewed pay summary each week, 35% viewed the breakdown more than once a week, and 21% viewed at least one detail page within the pay summary.

QUESTION
How might we design a simple and user-friendly solution to show caregivers their weekly pay, helping them understand their earnings and encouraging positive actions?
OUR GOAL
We first had to look at pay holistically to understand which mutually beneficial behaviors we wanted to encourage and what was meaningful to Care Pros. We pulled data from Looker on the top categories for pay.
01 MEASURE
We introduced contextual notifications for weekly pay within their feed and added a new section for pay in the caregivers profile
02 TRANSPARENCY & COACHING

03 POLICY & PROCESS
Previously our ops team used 3 different tools (admin, paylocity, and excel) to look up caregiver pay and provide support and coaching to caregivers. We simplified the process by giving them a single tool within the admin dashboard for caregiver pay.

SKETCHING AND WIREFRAMES
Modularity was important for us because we wanted the design to be flexible with different asset types and types of workflows. We did some rough sketches and brought the wireframes into a lo-fi prototype to test proof of concepts.
SEARCHING FOR INVENTORY
We aimed to provide Care Pros with clear insights into their earnings and which categories were earning them more. Our goal was to facilitate coaching, encourage them to earn more through extra hours and referrals and make these additional avenues beneficial for them.
